The Comprehensive Adrenal Stress Index evaluates adrenal cortex function and circadian fluctuation in the hormones cortisol and DHEA. These steroid hormones influence a range of metabolic processes including carbohydrate, protein and lipid metabolism, thyroid function and help the body manage stress.
Imbalances in the adrenocorticol hormones can negatively impact an individual’s energy, emotions and disease resistance and can cause many other common health complaints. An inappropriate stress response can reduce the levels of secretory IgA, which is critical for intestinal protection against bacteria, fungi, viruses, in addition to antigenic and toxic macromolecules.
This profile can be used to identify an inappropriate adrenal response and aid in assessing how it is influencing a crucial marker of the immune system.
