Michelle Bebbington is trained in Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture and holds a Licentiate Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is a Board Member of the British Acupuncture Federation.
“I started training in Chinese Medicine when I got a treatment for my knee in which had multiple chronic tendon injuries and after one treatment the pain disappeared. I was hooked from that point even though I had never believed in it before”.
Michelle helps run http://www.totaltherapytraining.org/Total Therapy Training and is a teacher of Chinese Medicine as well as training to be an internal and external examiner for Total Therapy and other training establishments. She learned both by taking classes but also under an apprenticeship with the company’s Senior Master Practitioner who she now works closely with.
Michelle has always had a passion for healing and started with Spiritual Healing in 2002, leading to Reiki, then on to Swedish massage and the Lic.Ac.TCM qualification. She is always taking more Continuous Professional Development classes to increase her skill set and is now including cosmetics to the list.
“The best thing about my job is seeing clients walk away with a smile on their faces and feeling much better, then seeing them the next time and hearing about how their life has changed from the treatments and the advice they received”.
Most of my clients come from word-of-mouth and I think that is nice because it means I have made a real difference to someone, enough so they tell their friends and family. I always say I want to help heal the world, but I suppose I’ll have to be satisfied with one person at a time.”
Traditional Chinese Medicine Lic.Ac.TCM – I do full Chinese Diagnosis to work out what’s going wrong in the body and can support the different approaches to health in the clinic by giving a different perspective to things occasionally. My Acupuncture is not only for pain but also for health and wellness.
Electro Acupuncture – This is an amazing therapy to help repair muscular injuries, it works by resetting the muscles and stimulating stem cell production to cause the body to heal itself.
Reiki Practitioner – I don’t do Reiki on its own anymore, but instead I put Reiki into my Acupuncture and use the training to help me feel the clients energy to give me clues to how to help them.
Battlefield Acupuncture – Widely used by the US Military for troops on the battlefield, this was used by the ancient Chinese and Japanese to interrupt the pain signals to the brain, it also reduces inflammation and has proven to be faster and more effective than Morphine in cases.
Skin Rejuvenation and Scar Reduction– Using Chinese and western methods together, this cosmetic treatment has great results. It’s wonderful for sensitive skin, acne, wrinkles, scars and discoloration and is usually requested for the face but can treat most areas.
“I am never happy unless I am learning, this means that I am always looking for new information which I am happy to pass on to my clients. I keep an eye on the Chinese Medicine journals and forums and love to talk to other practitioners about their experiences so when people discover (or usually re-discover in the case of TCM) really effective techniques you often find me getting excited about them and giving advice to people I meet. For instance, I have a really great fast non-drug pain killer for toothache that I have used in cafes on strangers before now!”
