Extreme fatigue, Muscle and Joint Aches, Shivery, Headaches
This screening consists of the Metabolic Analysis Profile – Urine Organic Acids and Adrenal Stress Index (ASI).
Assessing the underlying metabolic and adrenal function together can provide valuable information to assist the Practitioner in treating this complex condition. The ASI measures the adrenocortical hormones cortisol and DHEA, which directly influence energy levles, emotions and even disease resistance.
The Metabolic Analysis Profile measures metabolic intermediates of central energy production, methylation, detoxification, neurotransmitter breakdown and intestinal microbial activity. Tests covered: Metabolic Analysis Profile – Urine Organic Acids and Adrenal Stress Profile Sample Requirements: 1×1 first morning urine sample, 4 x plain saliva samples.
Patient Requirements: Patients should only drink enough fluid to quench thirst on the day and evening prior to the urine collection, and bladder should be completely emptied the night before collection. Do not collect sample during menstruation.
Please ensure no steroid medication (including hormones, inhalers and creams) is taken 48 hours prior to the test, unless wishing to monitor therapy. Please note that long-term steroid use may influence all results.
Discontinue supplementation (including creatine, alpha-ketoglutarate, malic acid, citrate, malate, or orotate forms of minerals) 4 days prior to testing unless wishing to monitor therapy.
Avoid eating all the following foods: Apples, plums, prunes, cherries, cranberries, grapes, pineapple, fruit juices, bananas, rhubarb, plantain, kiwi, raisins, tomatoes, avocado, walnuts, pecans, butternuts, hickory nuts, soda pop, wine, cream of tartar (check labels on baked goods), benzoate (preservative) and sweetener 24 hours prior to testing.
