Herbal Detox - part 1 - the Bowel Cleanse
Cascara Sagrada Bark, Cayenne powder, Fennel Seed, Garlic, Ginger, Marshmallow root and leaf, Raspberry Leaf, Rhubarb Root, Senna Pods.
The initial stage of the detox works to increase elimination through the bowel. Ideally we should have a bowel movement 3 times a day, once after every meal. This is not often the case in modern society, due mainly to our poor diet. Even people who have regular bowel movements can be carrying up to 15lbs of faecal matter in their colon. This faecal waste festers and ferments, secreting toxins and also providing the ideal environment for worms and parasites.
Not only do we excrete through our bowel, we also absorb nutrients. If our bowel walls are cemented with waste, we will also struggle to absorb vital vitamins and minerals.
Formula 1 'bowel' capsules contain herbs to increase peristalsis and kill parasites. This will result in increased bowel movements over the first few days.
The aim is to gradually increase the dose until you are having 3 good bowel movements per day.
Directions
- Start with one capsule taken with your evening meal. Take the capsule in the MIDDLE of your meal (not on an empty stomach or after eating).
- Build up the dose, increasing by one capsule a day, until you are having 3 good bowel movements a day. (Dosage is completely individual, some people will have 3 bowel movements after 1 capsule, other people need over 10 capsules a day.)
- Space the capsules out over the day e.g 1 at breakfast, 1 at lunchtime, 1 with your evening meal.
- Remain on your '3 bowel movements a day' dose for 4 weeks
- After 2 weeks: Introduce Flora Synergy to establish the good bacteria. Take 2 capsules 20 minutes before each main meal. The Flora replenish themselves every 20 minutes in the presence of food.
Suggested supplements
- 'Superfood' formula. For example Gillian McKeiths Superfood. Containing spirulina, alfalfa etc. This will give you a good balance of naturally occurring minerals. It can be taken alone, or added to juice. From Holland & Barratt / GNC (Manchest
- Flaxseed or Hemp oil. Or try 'Udo's oil', a balanced blend of Omega 3 and 6 essential oils, which can be used on salads, in yoghurts etc. From GNC.
Recommendations
Now is a good time to re-evaluate your diet and start to introduce more health-giving options. This doesn't mean giving anything up or denying yourself, it just means trying different things to give your body the best nutrition you can!
- Drink more water. Drink filtered or distilled water. You need to drink at least 8 glasses a day. Tap water is not good.
- Eat more organic fruit. Remember to eat fruit by itself, on an EMPTY stomach, never after a meal as this will cause fermentation. 4hrs after eating is a good guide. Eat one type of fruit at a time.
- Eat more salads. At least one a day, as a starter, side or main course. Add lots of raw vegetables such as carrots, fresh sweetcorn, advocado, peppers, courgettes, watercress, rocket… with olive oil dressing.
- Eat more whole-grains e.g. organic brown rice, organic wholegrain bread. Avoid 'white' grains - colour is a sign of good nutrition! No colour = no nutritional value! Reduce super-refined and bleached white bread, white pasta and breakfast ce
- Eat food in its natural state. If it doesn't grow - don't eat it! Cut out ALL processed foods. Avoid pre-packed, tinned, 'long-life' foods and ready meals. The amount of preservatives, additives, packaging materials, salt and chemicals u
- Try herbal teas. The best to go for are 'Celestial Seasonings', found at Sainsburys. Even better are organic dried herbs infused (with a teaspoon of honey) try organic peppermint, chamomile flowers, lemon balm or vervain. All available at Ne
- Try soya milk. Fresh 'Provamel' and 'So good' are the best. Soya yoghurts and deserts such as 'Yofu' are worth trying too. Available in Tesco and Sainsburys.
- Try tofu and Quorn. Give your body a break from digesting meat and have 1 or 2 vegetarian / vegan days a week. Reduce your intake of meat (it can take 48hrs to pass through the colon and meat-remains can stay in the body for years).
