Mrs B, age 30, came after a diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis. Her symptoms were varied but sporadic and she could have good and bad days. During a flare-up she would lose weight, have terrible diarrhoea, abdominal pain and would often pass blood and pus. She was very aware of natural health and had already spent many years making refinements to her diet. She had suffered from the age of 15 and had identified that stress was a factor that could trigger her symptoms. There were times she needed to use steroids to control the condition but her aim was to make this less frequent and to support herself as naturally as possible.
A Toxic Triangle test was performed using the Health Detective Screening System which identified toxicity within the small intestine. She was also tested for food intolerances and although Mrs B. was avoiding wheat, she hadn’t known she was also reacting to yeast. She had become very deficient in iron (a typical side effect of Colitis) and was lacking in B vitamins which are needed to digest food. Her good bacteria was also very low.
The Screening System checked her emotions and identified issues that Mrs B. had suppressed but, presented once again, realised they were quite relevant to her. The body will often ‘store’ emotions if they have not been dealt with at the time and the classic place for them to be held is within the bowel area.
In addition, the Screening identified parasites and liver congestion. Mrs B’s Programme was two-fold: she was experiencing a flare-up and consequently immediate natural treatment was provided using herbs to soothe the mucous membranes of the bowel. The second stage was to start gentle detoxification to rid the body of parasites and support the liver and bowel tissue.
We worked with Mrs B. for about 3 months, refining the Programme where necessary, in regards to dietary intake and herbal usage. Mrs B. put 100% effort into her approach to health, allowing her diet to be initially very restricted and taking the herbal remedies regularly. Due to her commitment, she achieved amazing results and the Ulcerative Colitis is barely an issue for her anymore. This is a condition that needs to be correctly managed, but once the right approach for the particular individual has been identified, maintenance is fairly easy. As in Mrs B’s case, the strong medications that had been prescribed to her for years could eventually be decreased and kept to one side should there ever be a particularly bad flare-up. Mrs B. felt that her condition was much more under control and was even able to carry on her full-time job during an infrequent flare-up due to the lack of severity of her symptoms.
