Glue Ear

Glue Ear

Glue Ear occurs in children when the middle ear becomes blocked with thick mucous preventing the eardrum moving freely. This may become infected. The build up of sticky fluid is often due to repeated colds and ear infections, or food intolerances often to dairy and sugar.

Natural Practices recommends a Food Intolerance Test. This can be performed on all ages. Food intolerance means the body isn't digesting and absorbing certain foods very well. This can cause aggravation within the intestinal tract, producing mucous. There is only one mucous membrane and if the ears are blocked with mucous, the intestinal tract will also be blocked with mucous.

A Naturopathic way of treating glue ear is to gently cleans the intestinal tract and identify and remove food intolerances. Herbal remedies are then given to gently loosen and expel mucous via the ears, lungs and kidneys.

Please telephone or email to book an appointment for a 'Food Intolerance '. test This will take about an hour.

There is a very good product 'Octovent' which is recommended for Glue Ear and which can be found on our On-line Shop under 'Children's Health'.
