Diverticulitis

Diverticulitis

Diverticulitis is inflammation of a diverticulum (protrusion of the inner intestinal lining through the outer lining to form a small pouch), aggravated by constipation. Symptoms include pain, distended abdomen, irregular pellet-like bowel movements and sometimes blood in the stool.

During a flare-up it is a good idea to soothe the intestines with Aloe Vera juice and cleansing vegetable juices such as carrot, apple, dark green cabbage and peppermint leaves. In order to prevent the inflammatory state of Diverticulitis we suggest a Naturopathic and Herbal Consultation as a good diet is essential and at Natural Practices we can assess your diet and assist you in gentle detoxification. Using naturopathic principles we will devise a tailored programme for you.

Please telephone or email to book a Screening with the 'Health Detective' Screening System to identify possible nutritional deficiencies, sources of toxicity in the body and imbalances in lifestyle which can worsen the diverticula, causing Diverticulitis.

The products Natural Practices recommend can be purchased from our on-line Shop or by telephone on 01625 549 000. We are aware that the on-line Shop leaves a lot to be desired and are currently working on making improvements.
