Deep Tissue / Sports Massage
Deep tissue Massage is a technique that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. This Treatment is the art and science of physically manipulating muscles, tendons and ligaments with diverse skilled Massage techniques. This Massage uses slower and firmer strokes and pressure than other treatments - deep finger pressure that concentrates on particular areas, and follows or goes across the fibres of muscles and tendons. It helps to refresh and relax muscles, increasing the blood flow and therefore the oxygen flow around the body. This Massage expels toxins in very sore and strained muscles, which helps them to strengthen and heal.
Deep tissue Massage is a particularly effective for muscular pain and is often used to treat people who are recovering from accidents or sports injuries as it increases blood circulation in muscles that are underused and relieves chronic muscle tension throughout the body. It can also break down scar tissue and "knots" deep in the muscles.
This type of treatment is successful for:
Back problems, arthritis, rheumatic discs
Neck problems - stiff neck, whiplash, tension
Shoulder injuries - frozen shoulder, muscles, strains
Stress and Tension - emotional and work related
Sports injuries - all neuro musculo-skeletal types
Please note that Deep Tissue Massage is a restorative treatment and can invigorate or deeply relax, depending on the techniques used during treatment
Deep tissue Massage is a blanket term that describes a number of different therapies, and is often used medically by physiotherapists, chiropractors etc.
Deep Tissue Massage is not advisable:

All Massage can leave you feeling thirsty and needing to go to the toilet more often than usual - this is because your lymphatic system is flushing out toxins. Drink plenty of water after treatment.
