Bowen Technique
'Quite simply, one of the most straightforward and effective 'hands-on' therapies available today.'
What is the Bowen technique?
It consists of the application of gentle pressure by the therapist across specific areas of muscles, tendons and other soft tissue. The precise location and rolling action of the soft tissue moves cause the body to make rapid and very often astounding changes, alleviating pain and discomfort which may have been present for years.
The treatment is interspersed with periods of rest to allow the body time to absorb the moves and make the adjustments required to bring about long lasting changes in health.
Where did Bowen originate?
It was developed by Thomas Ambrose Bowen in Australia in the 1950s. He had a thriving practice, successfully treating thousands of individuals until his death in 1982.
The Bowen technique is now known throughout the world and is at the cutting edge of 'hands-on' therapies available today.
What can Bowen treat?
As the Bowen technique works to balance the whole person, not the symptoms, it can be used to address any problem, including:
Back, neck & shoulder pain
Hip problems & irregular leg length
Sciatica, tendonitis
Arthritis, joint pain & muscle spasms
Fibromyalgia
RSI, elbow, knee & foot problems
Migraines, headaches, tinnitus
Respiratory problems eg asthma, chest pain
Hayfever, sinusitis
Digestive problems eg IBS, colitis
Reproductive & hormonal problems
Acute & chronic fatigue, ME
Stroke symptoms eg paralysis
Depression, stress, anxiety,panic attacks
As the Bowen technique has a significant impact on muscular activity and is extremely effective at realigning the body, it is now being used as a rehabilitative technique for individuals who have suffered minor or major injuries from an accident.
Who can Bowen help?
Bowen is suitable for individuals of all ages, including children & the elderly.
What does a treatment involve?
A treatment lasts an hour and can be performed through light clothing or directly on skin.
Most people experience positive changes after only 1 or 2 treatments.
